Overdraft Services

An overdraft occurs when your account does not have available funds to cover a transaction

Available funds is your account balance reflecting all authorized transactions waiting to clear, and deposit holds. Available balance may not include pending bill pay transactions or checks you have written that have not been presented for payment. You may check your available balance online, via mobile banking, at an ATM, by telephone or at a branch.

Overdraft Transfer (from Savings)

Sacramento Credit Union (SCU) will transfer funds from your Savings account to cover overdrafts with your consent. Please see the SCU fee schedule for the current fee assessed for Overdraft Transfer (from Savings). Regulation D limits this service to six electronic withdrawals or transfers per calendar month.

Overdraft Clearing

The credit union authorizes and pays overdrafts for:

  • Checks and other transactions using your checking account number.
  • Automatic bill payments.

The credit union does not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following transactions, unless you opt in:

  • Every day debit card transactions

We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM transactions. We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined, and you may be charged a return item fee. The credit union will charge a fee for each overdraft it pays. Please see the fee schedule for the current fee. The credit union will assess a maximum of five overdraft clearing fees per day.
